Independent Living Skills

Independent Living Skills

In conjunction with DRS, The Op Shop assesses clients who need a varying degree of living skills training to successfully live on their own. We utilize the Daniel Memorial Independent Living Skills Scale to understand what skills each individual needs.

Life Skills Training

Life Skills Training

Once the assessment is completed, it is reviewed and a CRP Service Plan is developed with the CRP representative, DRS counselor, client and the client's family. The assessment covers sixteen independent living categories, which are addressed through life skills classes, as needed.

Job Placement

Job Placement

When deemed ready, the client is placed in an integrated work setting. Placement may be at a contract of The Op Shop, in a mobile work crew, or enclave.

Job Coaching

job Coaching

Upon employment, the client may be provided a one-on-one job coach to help them acclimate to the work setting. The job coach helps the employee learn to perform all job tasks to the employer's specifications and to develop necessary interpersonal skills.

Work Adjustment

Work Adjustment

A job coach works with an individual to acquire job readiness skills at an actual job site or at the community rehabilitation program center.

Supported Employment

Supported Employment

This program is designed for clients who need intensive job site training/job coaching and provides ongoing support services after job placement.
